Introduction of a new MIC data set structure and format
SWIFT, as ISO 10383 Registration Authority, has enhanced the format and set of MIC data. The new format has been defined based on user requirements. The main purpose is to facilitate the automation of the file processing by the users. MIC data users are requested to update their systems to the new format to benefit from the enriched content and from the automation capabilities.

Publication and modifications implementation timeline
The MIC list is published on the second Monday of the month or the following business day if it falls on a public holiday in the country of the ISO 10383 Registration Authority (RA). The modifications become effective on the fourth Monday of the month.
The published list of MICs includes all requests introduced by applicants until the first Monday of the month, after successful validation by the RA. Valid requests received by the RA after the first Monday of the month and before publication will be incorporated in the publication of the month on a best effort basis.

The creation, maintenance and deactivation of Market Identifier Codes (MIC) is free of charge and operated by the ISO 10383 Registration Authority.
Important: Only representatives from the market organisation that operates the exchange, market or trade reporting facility (to be) identified by a MIC are authorised to submit below request forms (1).

(1) In exceptional circumstances, a third party organisation may enter into an agreement with the RA to act on behalf of the market organisations of a country or region. A regulatory body may also require updates to the MIC list.
