DEFINITION

This qualified generic field specifies:

CLAS

Classification Type

Classification type of the financial instrument, for example, ISO Classification of Financial instrument (CFI).

OPST

Option Style

Specifies how an option can be exercised.

OPTI

Option Type

Specifies whether it is a call option or a put option.

CODES

In option B, if Qualifier is OPST and Data Source Scheme is not present, Instrument Type Code must contain one of the following codes:

AMER

American Style

Option can be exercised before or on expiry date.

EURO

European Style

Option can be exercised on expiry date only.

CODES

In option B, if Qualifier is OPTI and Data Source Scheme is not present, Instrument Type Code must contain one of the following codes:

CALL

Call Option

A right to buy a defined quantity of an asset by a certain date at an agreed price.

PUTO

Put Option

A right to sell a defined quantity of an asset by a certain date at an agreed price.

USAGE RULES

When option C is used, CFI code must contain a valid ISO CFI code.

To use the codes associated with the ISITC code for security type, /ASCT/, Data Source Scheme must be ISIT and Instrument Code or Description must contain a valid ISITC security type code.
